THE “INTRODUCTIONS” SERIES REPRESENTS OPENING SEQUENCES OF VARIOUS ICONIC ANIME. THESE PAINTINGS FEATURE, COLLAGE-LIKE FEATURES, VIBRANT HARMONIC COLORS, AND EXPRESSIVE ENERGY.

“Tank” is the second installment in my “Introductions” painting series. Some fun features to find in this one are: the blurbs taken from my actual sketchbook notes layered into the background, an upside down Ed fused into the structure of the Swordfish spaceship, and the neon light panels, reflected in the palms of a silhouetted Faye Valentine. The theme song to Cowboy Bebop is so incredibly Jazzy, I knew I had to turn up the chroma and contrast in this composition. The flat planes contrast against hard charcoal sections and crudely etched words, evoking the haphazard compositions of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
