Sunflowers

Watercolor and Oil Pastel on Canvas, 56x30”, 2024.

I have vivid memories from my childhood of planting sunflower seeds in my front yard with my mom, and witnessing it grow throughout the year. I remember feeling incredibly small standing next to it. My goal for this painting was to emulate the feeling of sunflowers looking down on you. Stylistically, I kept it very loose with each brushstroke; allowing myself to paint freely, without overthinking.
